Turn this one over and you'll notice what isn't there. Every full-size Cherished Teddy carries five lines under its base — name, motto, registration number, copyright, item number. This bear has four: Cherished Teddies, ©1998 Priscilla Hillman, Lic. Enesco Corporation, Made in China. No name. No number.

That's not an oversight — it's how the mini line was made. At 1.75 inches seated, the whole base is barely the size of a coin: there was no room, and the minis were sold in sets where the box did the naming. The consequence is a quiet one: every Cherished Teddies database indexes by item number, so an unnumbered mini has no entry anywhere, and can only be identified by eye against a catalogue of a thousand designs. Most sellers don't try. She has spent twenty-seven years being sold as "a little bear."

She is worth a closer look than that. A pink skirt scattered with green dots, a stitched white pinafore with a single red heart at the bib, a white ribbon bow tied at her ear, and in her arms a white bundle gathered with a green ribbon, dotted with tiny red berries — a bonnet, a basket, something spring-ish; the mini scale keeps it charmingly ambiguous. On her arm is the red gingham patch that Priscilla Hillman insisted every bear should wear: proof it has already been loved a little threadbare.
