Antique Limoges France Rose Garland Plate – Green Band, Gold Beaded Rim, Scalloped Edge, French Porcelain, Belle Époque 1900s
The kind of plate that was never meant for dinner — it was made to be admired. Limoges porcelain at its most decorative: a ring of roses, a mint-green band, and a rim so heavily gilded it catches the light from across the room.
A wreath of pink and golden roses circles the plate in a graceful garland, each cluster rendered with the painterly warmth that defines Limoges floral work — deep pinks bleeding into softer blush, touches of amber and yellow adding depth, and trailing green foliage connecting each bouquet. The garland sits against a band of soft celadon green edged with fine gold stippling, giving the composition a layered, jewel-box quality. The white centre is deliberately left open, allowing the surrounding decoration to frame rather than crowd.
But the real showpiece is the rim. A row of raised gold beads encircles the scalloped edge — each one individually rendered, catching light like a strand of gold pearls. This level of gilding was labour-intensive and expensive even by Limoges standards, marking this as a prestige piece rather than everyday tableware. Produced during the Belle Époque era at one of Limoges' fine porcelain houses, this plate carries the translucency, whiteness, and weight that made French hard-paste porcelain the gold standard of European ceramics.
Perfect for wall display, a plate stand on a mantle, or as the centrepiece of a cabinet shelf.
