Vintage Hand Cut Lead Crystal Lidded Candy Dish – Pinwheel Starburst, Acorn Finial, 3 Feet, Bohemian Style Bonbonniere 1960s

A hand-cut lead crystal lidded candy dish — a pinwheel-and-leaf-ray starburst pattern carved across both bowl and lid, set on three small ball feet and topped by a multi-faceted acorn finial that catches every angle of light. The crystal is exceptionally clear and brilliant: the high refractive index reveals it as lead crystal (the cuts throw rainbow "fire" rather than the dull shine of ordinary pressed glass), and the cuts themselves are deep, sharp, and slightly irregular in the way only hand-cut work is — V-form grooves with crisp edges, not the rounded U-form moulded grooves of pressed equivalents.

The bowl is a rounded half-sphere; the lid is domed and follows the same pinwheel register, topped by a long faceted acorn finial cut in ten to twelve panels. The whole piece is weighted noticeably heavier than its size would suggest — the giveaway of lead content (lead crystal weighs roughly 1.5× the equivalent volume in soda-lime glass).

No maker's mark is present — typical of much mid-century Bohemian / Czech / Central European hand-cut crystal, particularly the work of master cutters whose pieces were sold through export traders rather than signed individually. The pinwheel + leaf-ray + central hobnail register is the classic Bohemian cut-crystal vocabulary of the 1950s–1970s golden era of Czech state-factory production. Attributed to Bohemian / Czech / unidentified Central European workshop, circa 1950s–1970s.

A piece for the hand-cut crystal collector, for the Bohemian-glass / Czech-crystal cabinet, for the mid-century cottagecore display, for the candy / mint / wedding-favour table, or as a hostess / wedding / housewarming gift to anyone with a glass-fronted cabinet to fill.
