Vintage Lladro Boy Awakening Figurine 4870 – Yawning Sleepy Child, Nightshirt, Glazed Spanish Porcelain, Retired 1974-1999

A Lladró porcelain figure of a small boy caught mid-yawn — leaning back, chin lifted, eyes shut, a long nightshirt falling to his bare feet as he stretches awake. It is one of those quiet, ordinary moments Lladró does better than anyone: not a pose, just a child who has only just woken up.

The modelling is unmistakably Lladró. The proportions are gently elongated, the face serene, and the glaze carries that soft Lladró gradient — pale blue-grey washing down the nightshirt into ivory, the skin warmed just slightly, nothing sharp anywhere. The piece was sculpted by Fulgencio García and belongs to Lladró's much-loved theme of children in nightshirts; this one, model 4870 "Boy Awakening," was issued in 1974 and retired in 1999, so it is no longer made.

Turn it over and the base carries the blue Lladró bellflower mark with Hand Made in Spain, together with the impressed factory marks. That printed Hand Made in Spain wording places production from the late 1970s onward — within the model's 1974–1999 run. Lladró has been made near Valencia since three Lladró brothers began the firm in 1953, and the long-necked, pastel-glazed look on this little figure is exactly what made the name collectable worldwide.

One honest note: Lladró figures are delicate at the extremities — fingers, the tip of the nose, the edges of the nightshirt — so I'd recommend a close look at those points in hand. Nothing is visibly chipped or restored in the photographs, and there is a small vent hole in the base, which is normal to the firing.

A figure for the Lladró and retired-Lladró collector, for a nursery or a child's shelf, or as a christening, new-baby or grandchild gift with real porcelain quality behind it.
