Vintage Paragon Silver Wedding Loving Cup 1972 – Queen Elizabeth II & Duke of Edinburgh, Silver Lustre Lion Handles, Bone China, England

Twenty-five years of marriage, commemorated on fine Paragon bone china — with a pair of silver lions standing guard on either side.

This double-handled loving cup marks the Silver Wedding Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, married at Westminster Abbey on November 20th, 1947. One side carries a richly detailed Royal Cipher — the intertwined initials E and P set within a blue roundel beneath the Imperial Crown, flanked by crossed sceptres and swords, framed by laurel wreaths and English roses. A blue ribbon below reads "25 Years of Happiness in Married Life." On the reverse, the full Royal Coat of Arms with lion and unicorn supporters stands beneath the inscription "Anniversary 1947–1972."

Around the rim, "Silver Wedding" is spelled out in pink capitals punctuated by small crowns — a decorative band that frames the whole piece. But the real showpiece is the pair of silver lustre lion handles: fully modelled heraldic lions in high relief, glazed in a luminous silver-platinum finish, each one gripping the rim and standing on the base. They transform what could have been a standard commemorative into something genuinely sculptural.

Made by Paragon under Royal Warrant — the backstamp reads "By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen" — in fine bone china with silver-platinum rim and foot. A prestige piece from one of Staffordshire's most respected royal commemorative makers.
