Vintage Royal Albert Canary Yellow Teacup & Saucer – Gold D Handle, Bone China, England Pattern 4715, Cottagecore Tea 1960s
A Royal Albert teacup and saucer in bright canary yellow with a fully gilt scrolled D-handle and a generous gilt rim — a solid colour band variation rather than the firm's familiar cottage-rose register. The upper body of the cup carries a wide canary-yellow band; the lower body is white with twin gold separator lines; the rim is finished in a broad gilt band. The saucer mirrors the design — a yellow outer ring, white centre, multiple gold lines, and a scalloped gilt-edged rim. The handle is fully gilt — gold across the entire scrolled C-loop, not just edged in gold, the continental detail that lifts the cup above the standard transfer-print-gold range.
Royal Albert, founded 1896 in Longton and holding the Royal Warrant since 1904, ran a solid colour band collection alongside its better-known cottage-rose patterns (Country Roses, Lavender Rose, Memory Lane). These solid-colour pieces were intended as a coordinating collector range rather than as daily china — chased by Royal Albert specialists assembling colour suites in pink, blue, green, lavender, and the less-common canary yellow.
The base of both pieces reads Royal Albert / Bone China / England with the standard crown stamp, plus a hand-inked pattern number 4715 in red. The yellow colourway sits less commonly in the secondary market than pink or pale blue, and the fully gilt handle places the piece on the more decorative end of the range.
A cup-and-saucer for the Royal Albert solid-colour collector building the colour suite, for the canary / butter / sunshine-yellow interior, for the cottagecore / spring tea table, or as a Mother's Day / bridal-shower / Easter-hostess gift.
