Vintage Royal Albert Memories Teacup and Saucer – Pink Peony Rose, Scalloped Rim, Gold Trim, Montrose Shape, Bone China, England 1960s
A single pink peony rose takes up nearly a third of the cup — petals layered deep magenta at the centre, softening to pale blush at the edges, the kind of full-bloom abundance that Royal Albert built an entire reputation around. Smaller white blossoms and half-opened buds fill the spaces between, anchored by quiet grey-green leaves that let the roses hold centre stage. The same arrangement repeats on the saucer, with a cluster at the centre well and scattered sprays reaching toward the scalloped edge.
This is Royal Albert's Montrose shape — the wide, gently flaring cup with a scalloped rim and a scrolled handle that has become one of the most recognised silhouettes in English bone china. The rim edge carries a moulded embossed border — a subtle band of relief texture that catches the light and gives the edge dimension beyond a flat plane. Every scallop is traced in gold, and the handle spine and foot ring carry matching gilt lines. Inside, the cup is plain white, letting the exterior florals do the talking.
Made by Royal Albert at their Albert Works in Longton, Staffordshire — one of the most collected names in English bone china, producing from 1896 until English manufacture ceased. Every piece marked "Bone China, England" is from the era of domestic production and is now discontinued.
