Vintage Royal Albert Pink Rose Chintz Teacup & Saucer – Fluted Rim, Mini Roses, Yellow Buds, Gilt Trim, Bone China, England 1990s
A Royal Albert teacup and saucer in mini rose chintz on a fluted pink rim band — clusters of small pink and yellow roses scattered across the white centre of both pieces, threaded with green foliage, with a pale pink fluted (vertically grooved) rim band running the outside of the cup and the rim of the saucer. The rim, foot, and the scrolled handle carry a 22K gilt line. The cup is in Royal Albert's Crocus shape with a low pedestal foot and a high curl handle.
Royal Albert, founded 1896 in Longton, sits at the centre of the post-war English bone-china teaware market. The firm's Country Roses series — launched 1962 and still produced — became, alongside Lavender Rose and Memory Lane, the most-collected Royal Albert pattern family of the post-war era. The pink-fluted-rim with mini-chintz rose register is one of the Country Roses sub-patterns (the specific sub-name on the base is partially obscured but the design and palette sit clearly inside the Country Roses family).
A cup-and-saucer for the Royal Albert Country Roses collector, for the cottagecore / grandmillennial tea table, for the pink-and-rose interior, or as a Mother's Day / bridal-shower / sixtieth-birthday gift.
