Vintage Royal Grafton Mixed Fruit Mug – Plum Pear Blackberry, Fine Bone China, England, Orchard Cottagecore Coffee Cup 1970s

A Royal Grafton bone-china mug with a mixed-fruit composition on the front — a deep-burgundy plum, a yellow-green pear, a cluster of blackberries, and a small white blossom gathered together with green leaves. The body is fluted in tall vertical panels and finished with a gently scalloped rim, the lip carrying a fine gilt line. The handle is the same scrolled curl shape Royal Grafton used across this mug range, with the acid-etched gilt stroke running along its inner edge.

Look at the way the fruit composition is built up. The plum carries a printed highlight on its upper curve — a single soft white-pink spot that reads as the natural waxy bloom of a real plum rather than a flat shape, the kind of small printer's restraint that lifts the still-life past illustration. The blackberries are each picked out in three or four individual berry-cells, the cells modulated darker-to-lighter so the cluster reads as dimensional rather than as a single blob. The pear has a faint pink wash at its blossom-end and a darker line down its centre — the way a botanical illustrator would mark the fruit's ridge — and the white blossom petals catch a pale-yellow shadow line on their undersides that ties them to the same lighting direction as the rest of the composition. It is the kind of careful registration that you only notice when you sit with the mug at the kitchen table.

The base is marked with the crown over a laurel wreath and Royal Grafton / Fine Bone China / Made in England in fine cursive black. Royal Grafton was the A.B. Jones & Sons Ltd line out of Longton, granted the Royal prefix in 1934 by King George V — the firm's later output through the 1960s–80s leaned into botanical, floral, and fruit transfer-print giftware in this exact fluted mug shape. A companion mug in the same shape — the Yellow Primrose pattern — is available separately in this shop, if you'd like to set the spring bloom alongside the autumn orchard.

A mug for the Royal Grafton collector, for the orchard / harvest-themed kitchen, for the cottagecore autumn coffee shelf, for Thanksgiving / Mabon / harvest-table setting, or as a gift for a serious cook.
