Vintage Royal Standard Margaret Rose Teacup and Saucer – Pink Rose, Lavender Panels, Gold Leaf Vine, Fluted Bone China, England 1950s

Alternating panels of soft lavender and white divide the cup from rim to foot, each boundary marked by a gold leaf vine — a chain of tiny gilded leaves climbing a fine gold line like miniature ivy. The white panels carry the starring role: full-bloom pink roses in deep magenta-to-blush gradients, their petals unfurling in rich, layered colour, anchored by cool grey-green leaves that keep the composition from tipping into sweetness. The lavender panels sit quiet beside them — a wash of lilac that deepens in the fluting's creases and pales where the light catches each ridge.

The fluted body fans outward from a narrow base to a wide, scalloped rim, giving the cup a corset silhouette — structured, cinched, and deliberately feminine. Every scalloped crest is traced in gold, and the scrolled handle carries a gilt line down its spine. The saucer mirrors the cup exactly: the same lavender-and-white panels radiating from centre to edge, the same roses, the same gold vine dividers, the same scalloped gold rim.

Named for Princess Margaret Rose — the younger sister of Elizabeth II, known for her glamour, her style, and a life lived brightly — this pattern suits the name. Royal Standard, produced by Chapmans Longton Ltd at their Albert Works in Staffordshire, operated for barely two decades before being absorbed by Royal Doulton in 1969. Everything they made is now discontinued and increasingly collected.
